PT. Volex Indonesia - Project Manager (Inter Connect Assembly Transfer Project)

PT Volex Indonesia (“Volex”) has a factory based in Batam, along with an outsourced manufacturing operation. The factory produces electrical power cords for use in consumer goods. Currently the factory produces around 20m units per year however there is scope for significant expansion of production capabilities at the location. The factory currently supplies other Volex Group companies in all regions of the world.

The existing finance team comprises six team members, and is strong in the matters of basic bookkeeping and accounting, however lacks the ability to understand the key business drivers and add value to other areas of the business. The current team, in conjunction with the Regional Head office finance team, is currently implementing a standard costing system within the BPCS ERP system.

Job Specification for Batam Project Manager (Inter Connect Assembly Transfer Project)

The Batam Project Manager for the ICA Transfer will be expected to co-ordinate and drive all required activities to ensure the successful transfer of all the ICA Products currently manufactured by PT Amber to Volex Batam without business interruption to Volex’s customers. 

The following responsibilities are not intended as a comprehensive list and the Project Manager will be expected to identify the full set of activities, this is merely intended to provide a flavour for the nature, scope and scale of the role.

Develop a comprehensive plan, ideally in Microsoft Project or similar, securing buy-in from responsible individuals and decision makers.
Liaise with the functional leads to ensure the functional project plans are progressing and hitting their milestones.
Liaise with Sales to ensure customers’ requirements are known to Volex and transfer progress, as required, is made visible to customers.
Implement an internal Batam governance for driving the project forward.
Implement a governance for reviewing progress with the Execs, stakeholders and steering committee.
Interface with and work with the Batam Expansion Project team on matters of overlap between the two projects. 
Prepare weekly progress reviews for the various stakeholders per the governance in 5 above.

Required experience and expertise
Successful candidates MUST:
  • Have performed a similar role before, namely the management of a complex product transfer from an outsourced model to an in house model.
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English
  • Be skilled in the use of project management tools eg MS Project
  • Be skilled in the use of Excel.
  • Be prepared to be based in Batam for the majority of the assignment (we would suggest at least 4 working days per week) – and willing and able to travel to Singapore.
Desired experience and expertise
Successful candidates WILL IDEALLY:
  • Have worked extensively in the electronics industry
  • Minimum 10 years experience
  • Have prior experience of a manufacturing assembly operations
